Changzhou Binjiang has positioned itself since 2018 as the Jiangsu-province new-energy-materials hub, anchored by the EV-battery-related cluster (cathode materials, electrolyte additives, separator films) plus Changzhou Tianhe (Trina Solar) photovoltaic chemistry plus Changzhou Carbon Fibre (PAN-precursor carbon-fibre composites for aerospace and wind-turbine). The park survived the Jiangsu post-Xiangshui rationalisation and was in fact upgraded to national-level ETDZ designation in 2020 because of its strategic-emerging-industry alignment with Beijing's "new infrastructure" priorities. Two operator-distinct points. First, the new-energy-materials cluster at Changzhou is structurally complementary to the larger Yantai (battery) and Quzhou (LiPF6 electrolyte) hubs; Changzhou specialises in cathode materials and separator film while Yantai handles cathode pre-cursor synthesis and Quzhou handles electrolyte salt. Second, the Yangtze barge access to Shanghai gives Changzhou-sourced battery-and-PV materials a 250-km transit advantage over inland Chinese suppliers when shipping to Korean and Japanese battery customers via Shanghai-Busan and Shanghai-Yokohama ocean routes.
