Daqing is built on China's largest historical oil field (discovered 1959, the basis for the "Iron Man Wang" national-symbolism era of Chinese energy independence). The integrated CNPC Daqing Petrochemical complex combines 12 Mt/yr crude refining (declining as the oil field matures and production drops) with one of China's larger ethylene crackers and a polyolefin complex sized for the inland NE China market. The acrylic-fibre and synthetic-fibre cluster is the high-margin secondary lane; Daqing has been one of the larger acrylic-fibre suppliers globally for decades. Two operator-distinct points. First, the oilfield-chemistry cluster (drilling fluids, completion fluids, EOR chemistry) is anchored at Daqing because the oil field itself is the captive customer; merchant-export of oilfield chemicals from Daqing flows out via rail to Russia and CIS markets. Second, Daqing-to-Manzhouli rail freight to Russia is sub-week with full Russia-China FTA preferential treatment; the rail-bridge advantage matters for Russia-bound polyolefin and oilfield-chemistry shipments. Watch the maturing oil field: Daqing crude production has declined roughly 50% from peak; refinery feedstock is increasingly imported, which shifts the park's economic logic over the 2025-2035 horizon.
