Yueyang Yunxi is the Hunan-province petchem anchor, dominated by Sinopec Baling Petrochemical (the 8 Mt/yr integrated refinery and chemical complex famous within Sinopec for being the only Chinese producer of hexamethylenediamine, HMDA, the nylon 6,6 diamine partner that combines with adipic acid (HS 291712) to make nylon 6,6 polymer). Baling's HMDA capacity gives China a domestic nylon-6,6 monomer supply that previously had to be imported from Solutia / Invista / Ascend; the merchant-export of HMDA from Yueyang is the strategic high-margin lane. The park's other production includes refining, olefins, polyolefins, and various fine chemistries supplying inland Hunan-Hubei demand. Two operator-distinct points. First, the Yueyang Yangtze barge access provides the export pathway, but the 1,200-km transit to Shanghai means cold-season low-water can constrain shipments. Second, the Sinopec Baling HMDA supply has been a strategic-importance position for Beijing; historically China imported HMDA, which constrained nylon 6,6 capacity expansion, and the Yueyang HMDA plant changed that calculus.
