Wanhua Chemical's Yantai home base is the dominant story of this park. Wanhua is the world's largest MDI producer (over 5 Mt/yr capacity globally, including Yantai plus Ningbo Daxie plus BorsodChem Hungary), and the Yantai complex carries the bulk of Wanhua's polyurethane chain integration: MDI, TDI, polyols, polycarbonate, advanced polymers, and increasingly lithium-battery cathode materials and electrolyte chemistry. The integrated MDI-PO-PE chain at Yantai is unusual; most MDI producers buy in propylene oxide, but Wanhua produces it captively via the HPPO route (HS 291020), which gives the cost-and-supply-security advantage. The port adjacency makes Yantai the dominant export gateway for North China polyurethane shipments to Korea, Japan, and the rest of NE Asia. Yantai-based Wanhua products typically carry a 5 to 10% premium versus equivalent Chinese suppliers because of the polymer-grade purity reputation and integrated-supply security.
